Westfield Westlakes Local Hero Nomination

There’s so much going at HAS Foundation and it’s been a really busy and exciting time.

In August our co-founder and Director, Ella Stratton, was named as a finalist in the Westfield Local Heroes for Westfield Westlakes.

The Westfield Local Heroes are all nominated by their communities in recognition of the important work they do and the outcome of the public vote determines three successful 2021 local heroes for every Westfield Centre.

If successful, Ella and HAS Foundation would be awarded a $10,000 grant to help continue supporting our precious families. HAS Foundation will use the funds to create a well-being podcast for families with ill children and we will also launch a national program to educate families about palliative care.

It has been a wonderful experience and so amazing to be recognised for the work we’re doing. All of the support and encouragement we’ve had from our community about this nomination has been quite overwhelming.   A big thank you to the wonderful Joy Rodda from Drummer Marketing for the nomination.

As part of the campaign, Ella popped down to Westfield Westlakes for a visit. While she was there, the most amazing thing happened. Ella met one of her fellow nominees, Colleen, who came up to say hi as she was at Westfield Westlakes doing her shopping. Colleen is truly amazing, volunteering at Ronald McDonald House for the last 21 years. We wish Colleen all the best.

Thank you to everyone who has jumped online to vote for Ella and HAS Foundation as part of the Westfield Local Heroes campaign.

We know Hunter would be so proud of HAS Foundation and would get a kick out seeing his mum’s photo up on display at Westfield Westlakes!

The lucky winners are announced in October, so we’ll keep you posted.
